Do you know what escutcheon means?
I know I get sidetracked by these words I read, but I figure at some time I should actually learn them rather than saying to myself, "Eh, it doesn't really matter."
Context will tell you it's a sign or insignia or some such. And so it is.
The template on a lightswitch
(ornamental, of course)
and the name plate on a ship's aft
(engaved there by force),
They, too, are bravely clutchin'
to the word "escutcheon."
Sorry about that.
But it's a set-up I had to put you through
to connect "escutcheon" to both "QE2"
and "Baby Phat."
